The Community View: Rhinos in the Challenge Cup

On Friday 14th March, Saints hosted Leeds Rhinos in the last 16 of the Betfred Challenge Cup!

Have a read and see what the Saints Community Development Foundation got up to throughout the gameday down below!

PRE GAME

It was a quieter week for the Saints Community Development Foundation, as we had less events than normal on during the evening.

Prior to the game, we still had our passing wall going on in the concourse at the Totally Wicked Stadium for fans to get involved with prior to the game. Prizes were available for those who made ten passes through the holes within 45 seconds.

Our A-Star Saints Angels then performed their pre-game routine in the middle of the pitch for the fans ahead of the big game.

We also had staff spread around the pitch waving flags prior to the game, whilst some Community Clubs held the flag in the middle of the pitch.

HALF TIME

It was a quiet week for the Saints Community Development Foundation, as the only half time entertainment this week was our A-Star Angels on show for the fans.

THE GAME

It was a tight first 40 minutes between the two sides. A Jake Connor penalty early on gave the Rhinos a 0-2 lead, Kyle Feldt’s try followed by a Mark Percival conversion gave the hosts a 6-2 lead at the break.

Second half tries from Tristan Sailor, Matt Whitley and Harry Robertson put Saints in firm control at 22-2 up, but late tries from Ash Handley and Harry Newman closed the gap.
