Saints celebrate 2025 World Book Day

Throughout this week, the Saints and the Saints Community Development Foundation have celebrated World Book Day 2025, with players visiting schools in our local Community!

The entire Saints First Team have visited local schools around St Helens, ahead of the Betfred Super League clash with Hull KR on Friday night. We had the likes of Club Captain Jonny Lomax, and Vice Captains Jack Welsby and Morgan Knowles visit schools around the local community such as; Allanson Street Primary School and Ashurst Primary School amongst those that have been visited.

Visits took place throughout the week, with the players taking time out of their busy schedules to discuss the importance of reading, as well as some of their favourite books or authors too.

The Saints Community Development Foundation’s desire was to utilise World Book Day and events like it to help inspire children and young people throughout St Helens to pick up a book and read.

In the UK, World Book Day is celebrated on the first Thursday in March, and is celebrated by 100 countries all over the world. Unesco – a worldwide organisation that encourages people to enjoy art and culture – choose it as a special day to celebrate reading. Unesco organised the first ever World Book Day on 23 April 1995. Two years later, people in the UK and Ireland got their first official World Book Day.

Thank you to the schools for welcoming the Saints and we can’t wait to see you all again for World Book Day in 2026!
