Community Saints team up with Army Rugby League!
Today, the SCDF teamed up with The Army Rugby League as they prepare their fixture this weekend!
The morning started off with the Army Rugby League team meeting up with the Veterans of the Foundation this morning for a chat, as they watched Game 2 of State of Origin. The Veterans enjoyed sharing stories along with chatting about their game against Crosfields this weekend.
The Army then met up with Coaches Craig Richards and Graham Roberts at Cowley, as they alongside the Army coaches led a session. The Army started off in the mat’s room, before going out onto the field for a session on shapes and defence, before ending with a group photo back in the gym!
The Army are taking on the Crosfields ARLFC Select XIII in The Sephton Trophy, in honour of Tom Sephton. The event has been held every year at Crosfields Rugby League Club to raise money for armed forces charities in memory of the Great Sankey soldier who was killed while serving in Afghanistan in 2010.
Check out our gallery to the left for some shots of the Army session underway, along with a great team photo at the end!
We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Army Rugby League, developing and working with them to keep on improving!
