Thank you for your support in February

February was an impressive month for the Saints Community Development Foundation, with lots of our events being well attended!

MY SAINTS EXPERIENCE

My Saints Experience is a three-hour guided tour at the Totally Wicked Stadium. The tour allowed over 200 children the chance to enter the home of the Saints and immerse themselves in the ‘Saints Way’ – the unique culture and experience associated with the Redvee.

QUALITECH REMINISCE CAFE

This month, we had our best attended Qualitech Reminisce Cafe of all time at the Totally Wicked Stadium. The Qualitech Reminisce Cafe is a free, monthly dementia-friendly event that welcomes everyone. Its purpose is to spark memories and encourage meaningful conversations, using Saints and the local town as a backdrop for shared experiences. As noted, this month we are thrilled to announce that we had our largest turnout yet, with 109 attendees joining us – a truly special milestone for the event. Whether you’re reminiscing about the past or connecting with others, the Qualitech Reminisce Cafe offers a warm, inclusive space for everyone to enjoy.

PRIMARY TROOP COMPETITION

After months of planning and hard work behind the scenes, the big day finally arrived, and St Helens Town Hall became the perfect venue for our exciting inaugural event – the Primary Troop Championship!

The Championship was created to offer children in our community a unique opportunity to showcase their talents. It gave them the chance to perform on a real stage, alongside their friends and dance teams, all within the magic of a theatre setting, complete with an audience cheering them on!

While there was a competitive element to the event, the focus was always on fun, excitement, and creating lasting memories in a supportive and lively environment. It was an unforgettable day for all involved!

THE LAUNCH OF HEALTHY HEARTS

This month, we’re excited to launch our very first Healthy Hearts Programme in schools, led by St Helens Women’s Phoebe Hook. Healthy Hearts is an engaging educational session designed to teach students all about maintaining a healthy heart through balanced eating, staying physically active, the importance of hydration, and so much more! We’re thrilled to bring this essential program to schools and help nurture healthier, happier hearts in our community.

WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE

After months of hard work behind the scenes, Sutton Leisure Centre proudly hosted our first-ever Saints Wheelchair Rugby League session on Wednesday, February 5th.

>We were honoured to have Paul Marsh from Bespoke Funding Solutions join us for the event. Once again, Paul has shown his unwavering support for the Foundation by sponsoring our Wheelchair Rugby League program. A huge thank you to both Paul and Bespoke Funding Solutions for their continued support.

Eight participants joined us at the Sutton Leisure Centre, where the session was led by one of our most experienced coaches and volunteers, Barry Diggles. Our Business Manager, Ben Hardman, was also in attendance for the launch event.

FIRST GIRLS DEVELOPMENT CAMP OF 2025

On Tuesday 18th February, we held the first Girls Development Camp of 2025 at Cowley. Girls in Year 7/8 had a session from 3pm to 4pm, with Year 9/10/11’s session running from 4pm to 5pm.

The Camps allow Saints’ Head of Women’s Pathways & Performance Jodie Cunningham to come down and cast an eye on some potential talent of the future. The SCDF Women’s & Girls Ambassador Katie Mottershead is also present at the sessions, with players from the women’s team also around the area to come and get involved.

The events were very popular, with 48 girls joining us for the Year 7/8 session and a fully booked 80 joining us for the Year 9/10/11’s. That means roughly 128 girls joined us during the afternoon to help craft their Rugby League skills at Cowley.

The next two Camps are coming up in April:

Year 7/8 – Tuesday 8th April

Year 9/10/11 – Tuesday 8th April

Year 7/8 – Tuesday 15th April

Year 9/10/11 – Tuesday 15th April

SAINTS CHEERLEADING CAMPS

We also had a huge uptake in our Saints Angels cheerleading camps. 115 people booked onto the three days of Cheer Camps at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Some of the things that they got to learn included Dancing, Cheerleading & Arts and Crafts, among other stuff.
