Portico Vine Recognised with Community Hub Leaders Award!

We are thrilled to share that Portico Vine has been recognised by the Rugby Football League with the prestigious Community Hub Leaders Award!

The award comes shortly after the club were honoured in the Kings Award for Voluntary service for 2024, with the recognition being the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK, equivalent to an MBE.

Much more than just a community Rugby League club their volunteers continuously strive to support the needs of the wider community in their Community Hub, the club host coffee mornings, dementia support days and mental health workshop plus many more exciting projects. The club were recognised by sport England, Merseyside Police and the Rugby Football league.

Ashleigh Seddon, RFL Social Impact Manager, shared: “At the RFL, we are constantly inspired by the outstanding work happening in our communities. Social impact is at the core of what we do, driving efforts to strengthen community clubs so they can play a bigger role in delivering local initiatives, creating additional sustainability for themselves and increasing our overall social impact. 

Portico Vine has truly excelled in this area, starting as part of our pilot scheme and growing into a fully established Community Wellbeing Hub. They are an outstanding example of how off-field social impact activities can transform a club’s role in the community, setting a standard for others to follow. 
 
We are extremely proud of Portico Vine’s achievements and look forward to seeing the remarkable work they will continue to deliver.” 

Accepting the award on behalf of the club Bill Vaughan the Community Hub Lead stated: “When other Rugby clubs turn to portico to follow ,our model of success is very humbling to me, but this just reflect our team of fantastic volunteers who are dedicated professionals who all believe in one team one dream”
