Saints LDP up and running in 2024

Across the Summer and beginning of Autumn, our Saints LDP Programme has returned!

The Lions Development Programme is designed to allow those aged 14-15, in years 9 & 10 to opportunity to learn from Coaches within the Saints system and represent the Saints, with multiple different opportunities for the lads to represent the Saints.

Saints, Wigan & Warrington Tri-Series:

As usual, we faced Wigan Warriors & Warrington Wolves in our annual Tri-Series. The Tri-Series is open to all Community Club Players aged 14-15 (Year 9-10), who are not on a scholarship. The programme is a great opportunity for players to represent the Saints against local rivals, whilst also gaining great experience being coached by coaches within the Saints Development Pathways system.

Each club takes it in turns to host a round of fixtures, with our round of fixtures being held at Community Club Portico Vine, who welcomed us to their club with great hospitality and supported the programme. Warrington held their fixtures over at Woolston, with Wigan holding their fixtures over at Chorley.

As always with our Tri-Series, local Community Club Coaches were also given the opportunity to take sessions and Saints teams in the games, as they continue their development as coaches.

St Helens vs Oldham 14 + Games:

Following on from the Tri-Series, we faced off against Oldham, who travelled down to Blackbrook on the 25th of September as a continuation of our programme. The side was build up of players from our recent Tri-Series, and was another great opportunity for the lads to represent the Saints in another round of games.

A massive thank you to Oldham for travelling over, and taking part in a success evening of Rugby League Development.

We plan to have more exciting news regarding LDP news in the near future, as we continue to develop our programme, players and coaches!
