Saints LDP continues to grow!
Saints Lions Development Pathway (LDP) continues to grow, with some great sessions in July and August!
The past 4 weeks have seen the Saints LDP +14 plus series, along with our Hatton’s U12’s Nines Tournament over at Cowley.
Saints LDP +14
Our Saints LDP +14 is designed for any boys who don’t have a scholarship contract aged between 14-15, school years 9 to 10, the chance to come and train with some of our Scholarship coaches, and transition what they learn from our coaches into games representing the Saints against local rivals Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves in a tri-series!
Portico Vine hosted the first round of games between the Warriors and the Wolves, as the Saints held the first round of games. Plenty of parents and carers flooded the side-lines, with a great atmosphere created by all, with excellent behaviour on the edges of the pitch making for a positive, encouraging environment.
Our Saints sides travel over to Woolston ARLFC, as Warrington host their round of fixtures this evening, followed by a trip to Wigan next Tuesday for the final round of games, as Wigan host over at Hindley ARLFC!
Hatton’s U12’s Nines Tournament
We have also held our Hatton’s U12’s Nines Tournament, with plenty of Community Clubs within St Helens coming down to take part in the tournament.
Blackbrook, Thatto Heath, Haresfinch ARLFC, Newton Storm, and Pilkington Recs, who entered two teams, joined us for an afternoon of Rugby League action.
Our Nines Tournament is formatted to allow all players to show their skill and teamwork, in a fun environment that encourages players to play ‘eyes up rugby’, whilst working together as a team, and playing as a team for one and other. These tournaments fit nicely into the renowned youth development programme that Saints are so proud of, along with the RFL Lions Development Programme.
All the teams enjoyed a competitive, enjoyable afternoon of playing the game they love, with exceptional levels of skill on show from all sides involved in the round of fixtures!
We can’t wait for our next Nines Tournament, celebrating the great work that all our Community Clubs do with their players, and the time and commitment that both Coaches and Parents put in to Community Rugby League!
